Shadow Cat
Pickup currently unavailable at Fox Cottage Farm
Shadow Cat is a moody, luxurious dahlia prized for its rich velvet tones and reliable garden performance. The perfectly sized blooms unfold in deep chocolate-burgundy hues that can appear almost black in certain light, adding dramatic contrast to both garden beds and floral design work. Each flower has a soft, velvety texture that brings depth and sophistication to late-season arrangements.
This vigorous variety produces an abundance of 3–4 inch blooms on long, sturdy stems, making it a true workhorse for cutting gardens and market bouquets. Shadow Cat is also known for being one of the earlier dark dahlias to bloom, continuing steadily until frost while producing strong tubers that store well over winter.
A must-grow for lovers of moody palettes, Shadow Cat pairs beautifully with blush, peach, or creamy whites — offering bold contrast while still feeling romantic and refined.
