Dahlia Tuber Sale Terms + Conditions
Below you’ll find everything you need to know about our dahlia tuber sale. Please take a moment to read through this page before purchasing.
We know rules aren’t the most exciting part of growing flowers — but clarity helps everyone have a better experience, especially during a busy tuber sale.
By purchasing dahlia tubers from Fox Cottage Farm, you agree to the terms outlined below.
Sale Dates & Restocks
Our dahlia tuber sale is currently held online only.
-
Sale dates and times will be announced in advance
-
Newsletter subscribers will always have earlier access than the general public
-
Limited restocks may occur as inventory is reviewed
Please note: having an item in your cart does not reserve it. Tubers are only secured once your order is successfully completed and you receive a confirmation email.
Some varieties sell quickly — this is a function of e-commerce platforms and inventory limits, not something we can manually control.
Ordering, Changes & Returns
All dahlia tuber sales are final.
Once an order is placed:
-
We cannot add or remove items
-
We cannot combine multiple orders or shipping (at the moment I am a one woman show and I can only do so much...)
-
Additional items require a separate order and will ship separately
Returns or refunds are only considered if there is an issue with the tubers received, as outlined in the guarantees below, and are handled at the sole discretion of Fox Cottage Farm.
Limits on Certain Varieties
For especially limited or high-demand varieties, we may set purchase limits so more growers have the opportunity to enjoy them.
Any limits will be clearly stated in the product description. Orders that do not respect these limits may be canceled or adjusted.
Our Promise & Growing Practices
Plant and tuber health is a top priority at Fox Cottage Farm.
We grow our dahlias using certified organic practices, working with the season rather than against it. Soil health, sanitation, and long-term plant resilience guide every decision we make.
During the growing season, we:
-
Sanitize tools between plants and divisions, please see our Grown With Attention page.
-
Cull any plants that show suspicious symptoms
-
Monitor closely for disease and stress
-
Grow with pollinator and soil health in mind
Despite best practices, dahlias — like all living plants — carry inherent risk. According to ongoing research from the American Dahlia Society, a large percentage of healthy, asymptomatic dahlias may carry dormant viruses. No grower can guarantee virus-free stock.
By purchasing tubers from us, you acknowledge and accept this reality.
Tuber Quality & Expectations
Dahlia tubers come in many shapes and sizes — some tidy, some quirky, some wrinkly, and some downright odd. What matters is viability, not appearance.
We guarantee that every tuber sold will:
-
Be at least the size of an AAA battery
-
Have an intact neck
-
Contain at least one viable eye
Some eyes may be dormant or difficult to see at the time of shipping. Some varieties naturally store wrinkled or with slimmer necks. These traits do not affect viability or performance.
If you have concerns about tuber quality upon arrival, please email us within 5 days of delivery with your order number and clear photos. We are always happy to help troubleshoot.
Incorrect Varieties
We do our best to ensure accurate labeling at every step, but mistakes can happen.
If you believe you received an incorrect variety, please contact us by the third week of September with:
-
Your order number
-
Clear photos of the plant in bloom
If confirmed, a refund or replacement will be issued at our discretion. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
Liability & Responsibility
Once tubers are in your care, responsibility shifts to the grower.
We are not responsible for:
-
Improper storage after delivery
-
Planting conditions
-
Weather damage
-
Pest pressure
-
Rot or failure after planting
-

The maximum liability in any claim will not exceed the purchase price of the tubers only. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

Storage & Planting Notes
If you cannot plant immediately:
-
Store tubers in a cool, dark place (45–55°F)
-
Moderate humidity is key {70-80% at this point}
-
Check regularly for rot or desiccation
Plant tubers in spring after all danger of frost has passed. Well-draining soil and full sun (6–8 hours) are essential. Dahlias often require staking as they grow.
Staying Informed
You can preview varieties ahead of the sale, but final availability and pricing are not guaranteed until the sale goes live.
If storage loss occurs between sale and shipping, affected items will be refunded.
Final Notes
That was a lot — thank you for taking the time to read.
We grow dahlias because we love them, and because we believe tending something well still matters. Our goal is to offer healthy, thoughtfully grown tubers and a sale experience rooted in transparency and care.
From one dahlia lover to another — thank you for being here.🫶🏻
